Just a little warm up video for the next TWiST global meetup – enjoy

Salut,
first of all I would like to thank all of you once again for the great support of our first Meetup in July. Therefore I am happy to announce the second TWiST Paris Meetup for Friday, September 17th 2010.
As you might know, the “official” global meetup episode of This Week in Startups will be on Tuesday, September 21th and focused on the Asian Pacific region. This would basically mean that it would be around 3am in Paris so even the toughest amongst the startups would like to take a nap at this time
.
Therefore I reserved the regular Shark Tank for our Paris Meetup on September 17th. As last time, Jason will call in and our Paris winner will have the chance to pitch Jason and the live viewers on the show.
You can already register yourself on the Meetup website http://www.meetup.com/Startups/16630/ and the venue will be announced shortly, so stay tuned.
And of course, if you would like to pitch your startup at the event please send a short introduction of your product, service, website etc to kirsten [at] twistparis [dot] com.
See you soon in Paris!
à bientôt,

This Week in Startups Paris Meetup
Salut,
what a great evening. Thank you very much to all of you who attended, pitched and supported the first This Week in Startups Paris Meetup. I will write a full wrap up tomorrow but for now lets focus on the winner of the Paris Meetup – and nearly the overall global winner: Yoocasa.
Yes, you heard right. While we all were having fun at the bar Jason had a really hard time to take the final decision who won the global meetup. It was a tie between Shoefittr and our winner in Paris. In the end he decided for Shoefittr but also said that if he would personally invest in one of the companies he would choose Yoocasa because they have the bigger vision and also might get a bigger exit.
To give you the chronology of the evening you will find the pitch of Yoocasa at the Paris Meetup (thank you to Alex Delivet for filming), the pitch of Axel Cateland live on the This Week in Startups show and the long road to the announcement of the global winner.
I think this a truly awesome feedback for Axel Cateland and the team of Yoocasa. If you would like to contact Axel Cateland and take a look at Yoocasa, here are the links:
The next global Meetup will be on July 21st / 22nd as it is scheduled for Asia this time meaning that the event would start at around 5am in Paris (not noon like I mentioned in the video).
I will keep you updated on how Paris is getting involved in this. So stay tuned! All the pitches, information about the startups, slides, links will be posted in the next couple of days.
Alors, encore un grand merci a vous tous et à la prochaine!

This Week in Startups Paris Meetup
I think it’s time to thank our two awesome partners of the This Week in Startups Paris Meetup which helped us a lot to organize the event in such a short time frame.

Lingueo is a marketplace / platform for online language lessons. The three founders were so nice to offer their office as venue for our event and they will also take part in the pitch session.

Pictarine lets you easily collect and share all your photos and your friends’ photos in one album, and relive these common zests of life with them. We will be using Pictarine to collect all of the photos that will be taken during the event by us and our guests.
Alors, un grand merci à vous et à demain!

This Week in Startups Paris Meetup

Thanks to the awesome Parisian startup & tech scene our This Week in Startups Meetup in Paris is now officially sold out! Grand merci à tous!
I can also confirm that we will have seven great startups pitching us on Tuesday. More information about the companies will be added to this blog soon. Thank you to all of them for their interest in presenting their companies on our event!
If you are one of the lucky ones who got a ticket for our Meetup please also confirm your attendance at the official This Week in Startups Meetup site over here: http://www.meetup.com/Startups/10741/
And last but not least Jason Calacanis and Lon Harris gave us some love on the This Week in Startups episode last night.
As this will be our first meetup in Paris we don’t know where we might take it from there. What we do know though is that we want to keep the event free for people to attend and we do appreciate the possibility of getting own sponsors to grow it over time. As I already said above, we are really impressed by the Parisian tech and startup scene and how open they are to get together for a new event.
See you all on Tuesday in Paris and stay tuned for the list of startups that are going to pitch us.

Salut,
here is a little snippet of Jason Calacanis from This Week in Startups episode #57 where he explains the idea of the meetup episode on July 20th.
There are still some tickets left for our first Paris Meetup on July 20th. So grab one while they are hot
. If you would like to pitch your startup on the event, please send a short introduction to twistparis[at]winklermedia.com.

See you soon in Paris, à bientôt,

Bonjour Paris et bienvenu!
Welcome to the This Week in Startups Paris Meetup blog. On July 20th Jason Calacanis has planed a special Meetup episode of TWiST targeted for the European startup scene. So it is my pleasure to invite the Parisian startup community to our Meetup in the offices of Lingueo.com.
The event is free, well, almost
. What you have to do to take part:
You would need to prepare two pitches in English, a three minute pitch for the local audience in Paris and a one minute pitch in case you will be the winner of the evening and hence have the chance to pitch Jason Calacanis live on This Week in Startups. The event itself will be bilingual, of course (French & English) but the pitches need to be in English only.
All pitches will be recorded and published on this blog. So even if you won’t be the winner of the evening your pitch won’t be lost. People who are interested in the startups which pitched that evening will be able to watch the recordings on this blog and get in contact with you = free promotion for you and your startup.
I will keep you updated but if you are interested in either pitching your startup, know someone in your network who might be interested or just come and have a nice evening with fellow entrepreneurs and do some networking your are more than welcome to join us!
à bientôt,
Kirsten Winkler
